Successful project completion: SuiteCRM introduced as central contact management system at the OSCE

In cooperation with diligent, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), one of the world’s most important regional human rights institutions and main divisions of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), has implemented SuiteCRM as the new and central contact management system. The OSCE is an intergovernmental organization working for the stability, peace, prosperity and democracy in its 57 participating States. For this purpose, ODIHR observes elections throughout the OSCE area, observes and promotes respect for human rights and carries out projects to support democratization processes. The office is working closely with other OSCE institutions, governments as well as numerous international organizations and civil society groups, and therefore needed an efficient and adaptable contact management system.

Within a month, diligent was able to implement SuiteCRM successfully as the central contact management system within the OSCE and to adapt it within the framework of a fixed price project according to the requirements. Both the available budget and the time constraints were respected. The tasks performed by diligent included, among other things, the creation of a complex rights and role structure, the creation of a special event module with corresponding reports, the data migration and technical documentation as well as administrator and user training. In the future, diligent will also assume the ongoing operation and support of the system.

In general, the project shows that the public sector and international organizations also increasingly rely on open-source systems, and this trend is likely to continue as a result of the associated advantages such as open standards, easy adaptability and the independence of individual providers.
